Crack-Twist
tail
A
crack /twist in the tail is a genetic abnormality in the skeleton.
The vertebral joints of the tail can be rotated, twisted or
stuck together and give at these places a crack/twist or a thickening
in the tail.
A
kinked tail in the Bracco Italiano is a hereditary defect in
which one or more tail vertebrae are twisted or stuck, this
causes a thickening or kink in that place of the tail. The deviation
occurs from root to tail tip.
Having a kinked
tail is not necessarily a problem, more importantly it can indicate
other conditions such as: defects in ureteral construction ,
shortening of bending and/or sinking of ribs, vascular abnormalities
around the heart, septal defects and lack of anus.
The double kink is clearly visible on a photo of a Bracco with
a kink tail .
